South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority Chairman Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak met in Seoul on Friday to discuss enhancing cooperation between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting at Cheong Wa Dae emphasized their commitment to expanding bilateral relations across various sectors.
President Lee underscored the significance of the agreement reached during his visit to the UAE last November, aimed at fostering a long-term partnership. He expressed gratitude for the UAE’s prioritization of crude oil supplies to South Korea in March and highlighted opportunities for collaboration in defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and cultural exchanges.
Al Mubarak, conveying greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, affirmed the strong partnership between the two nations. He noted that their cooperation has broadened beyond traditional areas like energy and infrastructure to include investment, space exploration, healthcare, and education.
Both leaders stressed the importance of maintaining robust communication channels to transform their cooperative efforts into tangible projects. President Lee called for strengthened coordination built on mutual trust to ensure the success of these initiatives.
The discussions come amid anticipation of further high-level engagements between the two countries, with a potential summit in South Korea next month being considered. This development points to a continued deepening of ties between South Korea and the UAE, reflecting a shared vision for strategic collaboration in multiple sectors.
