Dubai has initiated significant traffic diversions in the Al Safa and City Walk areas as part of an extensive road development effort led by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). These diversions affect both sides of Al Satwa Street and Al Multaqa Street, aiming to sustain traffic flow and enhance access during ongoing construction activities.
The diversions are a component of the Al Safa Street development project, designed to bolster road connectivity and alleviate congestion in the bustling district. The initiative underscores Dubai’s commitment to improving its infrastructure, as the city simultaneously undertakes a major Dh2 billion project to integrate key roads across the emirate more effectively.
This larger infrastructure endeavor, known as the Latifa bint Hamdan corridor project, spans 12 kilometers and seeks to connect several major roads, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, and Emirates Road. This extensive project is set to feature seven bridges covering 2.3 kilometers and eight tunnels extending 900 meters, with completion expected by the end of 2028.
Upon completion, the upgraded corridor is anticipated to accommodate over 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, significantly easing traffic congestion and enhancing transportation efficiency in the area. The improvements are part of a broader strategy to support Dubai’s rapid urban growth and economic development.
