Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has unveiled an extensive pipeline of projects valued at Dh2.1 trillion, aimed at fostering the emirate’s economic growth and reinforcing its status as a global business and investment hub. Announced during the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum at the Dubai World Trade Centre, these investments span multiple sectors, including real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure.
A significant portion of this investment, Dh1.1 trillion, is earmarked for real estate development through 2030, with plans to build approximately 350,000 residential units to meet the increasing housing demand from Dubai’s growing population. The aviation sector is also a major focus, with Dh128 billion allocated to Al Maktoum International Airport to expand its capacity to 260 million passengers annually. Additionally, Dh328 billion will be used to expand the fleets of Emirates and flydubai, alongside Dh18.7 billion for a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.
Infrastructure improvements feature prominently in the plan, with Dh100 billion designated for road enhancements and the expansion of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. The investment strategy also includes Dh151 billion for the growth of electricity and water networks, as well as Dh80 billion for the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.
Furthermore, Dubai intends to bolster its financial services sector with a Dh100 billion investment in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre. This move aims to enhance international business infrastructure and support the emirate’s long-term economic diversification goals.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the emirate will continue to invest ahead of future demand, highlighting the importance of long-term planning, infrastructure development, and effective leadership. This ambitious project pipeline is part of Dubai’s broader strategy to expand housing and transport connectivity, increase aviation capacity, and enhance essential services, ultimately attracting further international investment.
