The UAE Cabinet has taken a significant step in integrating technology into education by approving an artificial intelligence curriculum for all public and private schools. This initiative aims to familiarize students with the essentials of AI, including data management, algorithms, applications, and the ethical considerations of AI usage. In addition to student education, the program seeks to equip 22,000 teachers and educators with the skills necessary to incorporate AI into teaching methods, lesson planning, and curriculum development.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the importance of continuous learning for teachers to prepare students for the evolving future landscape. The Cabinet’s decision also extends AI’s role in governance with the introduction of a new advisory system. This system, comprising 32 specialized AI assistants, is designed to aid ministers in evaluating policies, legislation, and strategies by analyzing proposals, examining international practices, and offering recommendations aligned with the UAE’s national priorities.
Additionally, the Cabinet has approved a regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles, paving the way for testing, inspecting, registering, and licensing self-driving cars in the UAE. This move supports the country’s goals of promoting cleaner transportation solutions and alleviating traffic congestion.
In the realm of digital transformation, the UAE government has reported substantial progress, highlighting the completion of hundreds of millions of digital transactions through government services. This advancement is part of a broader effort that includes numerous digital transformation projects carried out over the past year.
Further addressing environmental concerns, the Cabinet has endorsed a National Ecotourism Policy and reviewed ongoing efforts under the National Strategy to Combat Desertification 2022–2030. These initiatives focus on safeguarding ecosystems, rehabilitating land, and preserving native vegetation, demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
