The partnership has notably matured in the energy sector, where the UAE and Germany have collaborated on renewable energy initiatives, climate action, efforts toward decarbonisation, and ensuring energy security. A key turning point was in 2022 when both countries inked an agreement to bolster energy security and industrial cooperation, which includes the supply of UAE liquefied natural gas to Germany and joint ventures in clean energy and climate projects.

In 2004, the two nations formalized their political relationship by signing a strategic partnership agreement that encompasses regional security, economic collaboration, and research.
