The UAE Urban Search and Rescue team has once again achieved a significant milestone by maintaining its “heavy” classification, the highest international status granted by the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), which is affiliated with the United Nations. This marks the third consecutive time the team, part of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, has been awarded this elite status, underscoring the UAE’s strength in emergency preparedness and disaster response.
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his congratulations to the team, commending their professionalism, dedication, and readiness to operate in crisis situations. He highlighted their rapid response capabilities to natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies, both domestically and on the international stage. This recognition is seen as a testament to the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian principles and its growing influence in global disaster management efforts.
The ceremony, celebrating this achievement, took place at Qasr Al Bahr Palace, attended by notable figures including Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, alongside senior officials and distinguished guests. The event underscored the importance the UAE places on maintaining and enhancing its expertise in emergency and rescue operations.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized that the team’s success is reflective of the UAE’s dedication to upholding humanitarian values and further cements its position as a leader in international disaster response. The continuous recognition by INSARAG not only boosts the morale of the team but also reinforces the UAE’s strategic role in fostering global safety and security initiatives.
